Last night, Molly mentioned that her bare knuckle fighting bodyguard Kimbo won another match (no clue if its a PPV deal she was talking about earlier or what). After hearing her mention him for the upteenth time, curiosity got the best of me so I ran a little Google search on his ass. Lo and behold, I find a video of this big badass mofo fighting in someone’s backyard till the other guy’s eye puffs up and starts running with blood. According to the guy who put the page up, “Kimbo is a famous street fighter in Miami. Watch one of his backyard fights. He really messes up the other guy.” Sounds like Molly’s Kimbo alright. Doghouseboxing.com mentions Kimbo Slice on a page about the history of bare knuckle fighting:

Most bouts are fought ‘underground’ and only observed by a handful of spectators. Recently in the United States, street fighter Kimbo Slice took on Boston police officer and MMA fighter Sean Gannon in unsanctioned bout which left Kimbo unconscious for the first time in his career. Gannon was subsequently reprimanded by the department for engaging in an illegal act however both combatants continue their fighting careers.

Subfighter reports Kimbo later accuses Gannon of cheating:

According to on of the MMA trainers at the Freestyle Fighting Academy, Kimbo Slice claims that Sean Gannon pressed his thumbs into his adams apple while applying the infamous guillotine choke during their underground bare-knuckle fight. Kimbo also stated that he temporarily lost consciousness due to the choke. Slice has been training in MMA at the Freestyle Fighting Academy.

Kimbo Slice (amazingly that’s his last name) is an ex-con who did ten years of hard time but was finally released about 10 months ago. He fights in underground boxing matches from time to time winning purses that range from 3-10 thousand gs. This year alone, he’s 9-1 (27~90k in one year for a few minutes of kicking someone else’s ass). His lone loss was suffered when his opponent used mace. Kimbo acknowledges the loss because he says, “I shoulda kicked his *** much faster and knocked the ***** out cold. And before the fight we said no weapons, but didn’t say no mace.

Backed by the owner of a popular Miami based porn website, Kimbo earned his first 10 thousand dollar purse when he knocked out that same opponent in a rematch. The bout took but a mere 10 seconds. Not taking any chances, Kimbo pounced on his opponent 5 times after he was out cold.

Kimbo is well aware that underground fighting is illegal but he cannot help it. He can’t earn a decent living through legit means because of his prison track record. If you were a big bad *** in his situation and someone came up to you and said, “I know someone who will fight you for 10 grand heads up”, you might consider it also.

Kimbo is now considering turning pro through the advice of his cousin, Emmanuel Augustus, and local boxing trainers in Miami. Once he turns pro, he will leave his underground fighting days behind. As he contemplates the countless possibilities, Kimbo will continue to fight in underground battles to provide for himself and his disabled mother. As Kimbo so eloquently put it, “That’s how a nigga eat.”
